CEI Integrates ASP/J2EE Application into Common Microsoft .NET Platform

< Back

Business Issue
An eCommerce company that creates online, reliable, dynamic price markets for sourcing and asset recovery, created a core eMarketplace trading engine utilizing a collection of technologies from Microsoft and Sun. The company models the RFI/RFQ procurement process at companies and had a technical need to create mass customized solutions for clients so that the technology can be accessed by end-users as well as back office integration to ERP, purchasing and procurement applications. They have a collection of technology that forced the company to have both Microsoft and J2EE developer talent to maintain the current systems.

In looking at the strategic direction to align technology and minimize multiple developer skill sets, a decision was made to align with the Microsoft .NET platform for integration benefit, common platform development and future web services capabilities.

CEI Solution
A blended team of CEI developers was commissioned to provide architecture and development direction for the ASP.NET and C# and re-engineer applications from SUN J2EE and Microsoft ASP to a Microsoft .NET architecture. The client chose to align with a Microsoft platform utilizing ASP.NET for the visual rendering of the solutions for the client interactions. C# was utilized for the server architecture in order to route information to the back-office servers. Microsoft message queuing technologies route work requests within the architecture.
